Goji Berries Can Add Healthy Elements To Your Diet!
July 29th, 2007Goji berries were given to me by my work colleague Katie, around about a year ago now. At the time we were working nearly around the clock on a new project. She was told to eat Goji berries by her naturopath as a snack and also as Goji tea purely as a tonic and a pick-me-up drink.
Â
During those times when it was obvious that lunch and dinner were going to be delayed, we would happily much on these delicious red berries together with some almonds or walnuts. This was always enough to tide us over until we were able to find the time to have our proper meal. Often if we were working late at night we would use the berries to make Goji tea which seemed to give us the energy to be able to keep on working that bit longer.
Â
One thing we did notice was that we did not snack on bad food such as chocolate bars or biscuits. We also found that over that time we shed a few kilos purely because we had substituted the Goji berries for our usual quick snacks of unhealthy junk food. What an unexpected bonus that was.
Â
We also began to notice after eating the Goji berries for several months some other subtle changes. We were able to work longer hours without becoming so fatigued. Not only were we not as physically tired, but at the end of a long day we were still working with great mental clarity. We were drinking around 3 cups of tea made with the Goji berries each day, and snacking on the rest.
Â
To any onlookers, it appeared that we were thriving on this extra workload. We looked too healthy and had far too much energy to be classified as tired and overworked. But we were working incredibly long hours, and the only real difference to our diets was the handful of Goji berries that we would each consume in one day.
Â
Of course this amount of Goji berries would constitute a therapeutic dose, but it would be very close to the amount we would eat over the period of a day. We certainly went through some packets of berries over that couple of months. Even now they remain a favourite snack food as well as tea. I probably don’t eat quite that many, more like a small handful. But I do find that they are the best thing to carry around when you require a quick energy boost, or just to snack on in between meals.
