How to use Goji Berries for maximum health benefits
I am often asked is there anything else that can be done with the dried Goji berries other than just eating then. Of course there are! In fact, finding ways to use the berries is only limited by one’s own imagination. A great majority of people of course are more than happy with just nibbling on them straight from the pack, but there is still a significant number who would like to find other ways to introduce them into their diet.
One of the most popular ways of taking the Goji, which is also one that is most popular in Asian countries, is to drink a Goji tea. To make the tea you just need to infuse some berries in some boiling water. Let the tea sit for about 5 minutes then drink, but make sure you eat the berries at the end of it. You are able to use as little or as many berries as you like, it is a good idea to begin with about 10 berries to start with, and adjust to suit your taste next time around.
If you belong to the juice or smoothie lovers, then always keep a little batch of soaking Goji berries in the fridge in some water. When it is time to make you fruit smoothie for example, you can just add the plumped berries and their water into your smoothie mix. A lot of switched on health fanatics like to make this first thing in the morning. The mix can just as easily be added to juice mixes as well.
If you are into baking, then try adding the dried berries to any recipe you would normally add dried fruit such as sultanas or raisins. The berries have been added successfully to fruit cakes, scones and muffins. A Goji muffin sounds really tempting. For an added health benefit, try substituting around 25% of your flour with coconut flour. The flavour is wonderful with the Gojis and it makes a superb tasting muffin.
